NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Hartford men's and women's cross country teams were each recognized by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), as they earned All-Academic Team distinctions.

The women's team earned the honor after combining for a 3.61 cumulative GPA. Last semester, the women saw nine members earn GPAs over 3.5, while rookie Grace Furlong, sophomore Chloe Smith, and seniors Courtney Hackman and Amanda Hamel each earned perfect 4.0 GPAs.
 
The women's team is joined by four other America East institutions who earned the accolade. The Hawks have the second-highest GPA among the conference honorees, behind UMass Lowell, with a GPA of 3.68. Hartford's 3.61 cumulative GPA leads UAlbany (3.31), Binghamton (3.45), and Vermont (3.54). 
 
The men's team earned the distinction after earning a combined cumulative GPA of 3.15. Last semester, the men saw six members finish with GPAs over 3.0, highlighted by sophomore Wesley Moody, who earned a perfect 4.0 GPA.
 
The men's team is joined by five other America East Institutions on the team, including UAlbany (3.27), Binghamton (3.36), New Hampshire (3.27), UMass Lowell (3.27), and Vermont (3.22). 
 
The University of Hartford Department of Athletics has set the academic standard in the America East, as the Hawks will be vying for the Walter Harrison Academic Cup for the third-straight year in 2019. Last year, Hartford combined for a 3.37 GPA — the highest GPA recorded by an America East institution — to win the Academic Cup for the sixth time in the last seven years.
