FAIRFIELD, Conn. –Hartford softball split with Sacred Heart Wednesday afternoon, taking game one, 3-1, and falling in game two, 4-0, in non-conference action.

Ally Beck each finished the day with a RBI, as the Hawks improve to 4-10 on the season. Senior Emily Orosco recorded nine strikeouts in game two, helping the Pioneers move to 13-10 overall.
GAME ONE: HARTFORD 3 SACRED HEART 1
Hartford took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, as Beck hit a sacrifice fly to center field to bring home senior
Kylie Dazalla. Mianti then moved to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on an error by the shortstop. With runners on the corner, Mianti charged home as junior
Madison Hilimire took second, for the early 2-0 lead.
The Hawks scored its final run of the game in the sixth inning, as Mianti reached on an error by the third basemen, scoring freshman
Haley Cassidy from second. Sacred Heart managed to get one run back in the bottom of the sixth, but that is as close as they would get, as Hartford took game one, 3-1.
GAME TWO: SACRED HEART 4 HARTFORD 0
After the Pioneers scored three runs in the first two innings, The Hawks had their best opportunity to get on the board in the top of the fifth. Freshman
Emma Curry and Cassidy each moved to second and third after Beck fouled out to the catcher with one out. Hartford, however, could not take advantage of the runners in scoring position, and Sacred Heart escaped the inning unscathed.
The Pioneers added their final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth, wrapping up their 13th win of the season, 4-0.
NEWS AND NOTES
- Kocenski (3-5) pitched her fourth complete game of the season in game one, allowing one earned run on seven hits and striking out two batters
- Dazalla finished the day 2-5 with a double and a run scored
- With zero errors on the day, Hartford remains one of the top fielding teams in the country, registering a .976 fielding percentage, which is 21st in Division I
