LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. –Hartford softball split with Siena Tuesday afternoon, taking game one ,11-0, and falling in game two, 8-3, in non-conference action .
Sophomore
Danielle Rocheleau blasted her fifth home run of the season, as the Hawks improve to 16-23 overall. Senior Madysen Cossack and junior Lauren Sabihon each hit home runs in game two, as the Saints improve to 13-17 on the season.
GAME ONE: HARTFORD 11 SIENA 0 (5 INNINGS)
Hartford wasted little time taking control of game one, as Rocheleau brought the first runs of the game across with a two-run blast to left field in the top of the first.
The Hawks continued to roll in the second inning starting with a RBI single by junior
Madison Hilimire, plating sophomore
Kiana Harris for the 3-0 lead. After sophomore
Amber Mianti snuck home on a throw to first, Rocheleau tallied her third RBI of the game with a single to left field, increasing Hartford's to advantage five (5-0) after two innings.
The Hawks put the game out of reach in the fifth inning with five runs on three hits, making the score 10-0. Highlighting the inning was RBI from Hilimire and sophomore
Lily Sencer and a two-run triple by sophomore
Nicolette Barranger.
Hartford wrapped up game one in five innings, scoring one more run in the top of the fifth for the 11-0 win.
GAME TWO: SIENA 8 HARTFORD 3
With the scored tied at three in the sixth, Siena broke open the game scoring four runs in the inning. The Saints did all of their damage with two swings of the bat, as Cossack hit a three-run home run to center field, immediately followed by a round tripper by Sabihon.
Down 8-3 in the top of the seventh with a runner on first, the Hawks were unable to rally, dropping game two.
NEWS AND NOTES
- Freshman Julianna Kocenski (10-13) hurled her third shutout of the season, scattering seven hits over five innings with one strikeout
- With her four hits on the day, Rocheleau is now five hits away from 100 for her career
- Barranger finished the afternoon with two triples, breaking the program's single-season record with seven on the year. She leads the America East in the category and is in the top-5 in Division I
- Hartford now has 16 wins on the season for its largest win total since 2013 (21)
