FIRST STRIDE
After a successful outing at the America East Championships last weekend, the Hawks are heading down the road to compete in the New England Championships. Held at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Conn., action begins on Friday, May 10.
 
HARTFORD QUICK HITS
  • The men scored a program-best 45.50 points at the America East Championships, besting Maine by 15.50 points, taking eighth-place laurels for the first time since 2011
  • Between the men and women, Hartford saw 18 top-eight performances, paced by a second-place finish by sophomore Victor Shapovalov in the javelin (62.48m)
  • The Conference Championship Meet also saw the Hawks break two school records on the women's side
  • Junior Olivia Rougeau had two top-five performances, including a school-record long jump mark of 5.65m to earn fourth in the event
  • Rookie Haleemot Adeyanju broke a five-year old school record in the 800m, running 2:11.88 to earn sixth-place
 
NEXT ON TAP
Those who qualify will return to action on Thursday, May 23, for the NCAA East Regional Championships. The three-day event is held in Jacksonville, Fla. Last Spring, current junior Terrel Davis became the first member of the men's track and field team to compete in the NCAA East Regional event.
