WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Junior guard
Jada Lucas scored a team-high 17 points, as the Hartford women's basketball team fell to America East foe Vermont, 63-53, inside Reich Family Pavilion on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Hawks fell to 0-18 on the year and 0-5 in the America East, while the Catamounts improved to 9-9 on the season and 3-2 in conference play.

Despite forcing the Hawks to shoot 29% from the field in the first quarter, the Catamounts took a narrow 14-10 lead into the second quarter. Vermont was able to push its lead to 20-12 with 7:50 to go in the second quarter before the Hawks closed the half with a 15-7 run to tie the contest at 27-27 at the break.
The Hawks opened the second half with a 15-4 run, backed by back-to-back three-pointers from Carmen Villalobos to give Hartford a 42-31 lead with 3:05 to go in the third quarter. The Catamounts closed the quarter with a 12-4 run to cut the Hawks' lead to 46-43 heading to the fourth.
Vermont kept its foot on the gas, going on a 13-0 run in the opening five minutes of the fourth to take a 56-46 lead. The lead proved to be too much for the Hawks, as they eventually fell 63-53.
