Burnham Breaks School Record at URI Coaches Tribute

BOSTON – The University of Hartford indoor track and field team saw numerous athletes set new personal bests while competing in the URI Coaches Tribute on Saturday. Sophomore Dalton Burnham continued his remarkable indoor campaign after breaking the school record he set early this season in the pole vault. The Hawks combined for 11 top-five performances and  four top-three honors.

HARTFORD MEN HIGHLIGHTS 
  • The men's team continued their outstanding indoor campaign after accomplishing 11 top-ten honors and saw eight athletes finish inside the top-five
  • Highlighting the men was Burnham who finished fifth in the pole vault, breaking his own school record with a mark of 4.20m
  • Freshman Ardonntrell Williams continued his strong rookie campaign as he came within .01 seconds of matching the school record in the 60m hurdles during the preliminary rounds, as he finished fifth in the event with a final time of 8.70
  • Williams also finished seventh in the long jump with a mark of 6.54m
  • Fellow rookie Christopher Fils had his highest placed finish of the year, coming in second at the triple jump with a mark of 13.56m
  • Senior Connor Kenny and freshman Anthony Clavette continued the Hawks dominance in the field events after finishing fourth and fifth in the high jump respectively, each clearing 1.91m
  • Junior Nicholas O'Brien set a new season-best time of 4:24.13 to finish sixth in the mile, while freshman Luke Ferhman also set a new personal-best 500m time of 1:07.37 to finish 4th
  • Sophomore Kaylan Depas rounded out the top-five finishers, placing fourth in the 60m dash
  • The men's 4x400m also finished in fourth on the day while the 4x800m came in second
     
HARTFORD WOMEN HIGHLIGHTS
  • The women's team posted an impressive eight top-15 finishers, with two athletes earning top-three accolades
  • Highlighting the women's team was junior Elizabeth Lodge who took home the gold in the high jump, after clearing a height of 1.65m
  • Sophomore Haleemot Adeyanju continued her remarkable indoor season as she finished third in the 1000m after setting a season-best time of 3:00.02
  • Freshman Hailey Marcello also set a new personal-best time of 3:09.57 to finish eighth in the 1000m
  • The women continued to have a strong showing in the 1000m event as junior Quinnae Outerbridge too home 11th place, while rookie Christie Czajka finished in 14th
  • Freshman Gabrielle Zeller finished tenth in the women's 3000m after crossing the line in a personal best time of 11:05.51
  • The women's 4x400m team, consisted of junior Abby Myers and a trio of freshmen in Porsha Muhammad, Alysia Joseph and Kyla Browne finished the event in sixth place with a time of 4:14.92

The Hawks return to action next week as they are set to compete in the David Hemery Invitational in Boston, Mass. Held at the Track & Tennis Center on the campus of Boston University, the two-day event begins on Friday, Feb. 14, and concludes on Saturday, Feb. 15.
