Ten Hawks Record Personal-Best Efforts at AE Championships

DURHAM, N.H. — There were fast times all around on Friday, as the Hartford men's and women's cross country teams competed at the America East Championships. Held at the University of New Hampshire's Campus Woods Course, the women finished eighth as a team over the 5k wooded course, while the men finished 10th over the 8k course.

Five of the seven women's runners entered set significant personal-best times, while the men had three of its seven runners set personal-best times.

MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTS

HARTFORD WOMEN HIGHLIGHTS
  • Senior Haleemot Adeyanju led the Hawks in the 5k with a 43rd overall finish 
  • She set a personal-best time of 18:37.87
  • Junior Hannah D'Orso followed closely behind as she ran a personal-best time of 18:48.17 to finish in 49th-placeoverall
  • Sophomore Abby O'Connor, who placed 56th overall, completed the top-three Hartford finishers with another personal-best time of 18:55.65 
  • Junior Hailey Marcello and sophomore Sarah Kulpa finished out their final scoring positions of fourth and fifth 
  • Marcello ran a season-best time, while Kulpa turned in a personal-best effort
  • Rounding out the top-seven were two newcomers, freshman Kelly Neuendorf and freshman Madison Smith
  • Smith set a personal-best time of 20:45.55
  • UMass Lowell won the women's 5k as a team after having four of its five scoring runners place in the top-10
HARTFORD MEN HIGHLIGHTS
  • Junior Keith May was the first Hartford finisher in the men's race, finishing 61st overall while setting a new personal-best time of 26:24.85
  • Junior Christian Deal, who led the Hawks men in every meet this season, followed behind May in 70th-placeoverall with a time of 26:37.28
  • Graduate student Nicholas O'Brien, freshman Samuel Moffat, and junior Cole Cayer finished out the three final scoring positions for Hartford
  • Both Moffat (26:45.51) and Cayer (26:45.91) set personal-best times 
  • Rounding out the top-seven finishers were sophomore Nicholas Turo and freshman Riley Brutvan
  • UMass Lowell, which landed each its scorers in the top-10, were the men's 8k winners

The Hawks will take a two-week rest as they prepare for the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships meet at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. on Friday, Nov. 12.
