BOSTON — Sophomore Sydney Garrison of the Hartford women's track and field team was named the America East Field Performer of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday.
 
A native of Southington, Conn., Garrison had a strong performance at the Yale Season Opener this past Saturday. She placed third in the high jump after clearing a height of 1.60m. Garrison currently ranks among the top names in the America East in the event, sitting third with her mark of 1.62m, which was set at the Alden Invitational. 
 
With her first career America East Field Performer of the Week honor, Garrison becomes the first Hawk to earn a conference accolade this season. 
 
Garrison and her fellow teammates return to action next month with the URI Coaches Tribute Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 22.
