UALBANY 1, HARTFORD 0 (12)
Friday's contest was a pitchers' duel as neither offensive could get going. Sophomore
Caylee English, who started inside the circle, was on fire early, tallying four strikeouts in the first three innings. The Hawks would play amazing defensive as junior
Paige Fedak came up with a pair of outstanding diving stops to turn a double play and prevent UAlbany from generating any scoring opportunities. The Great Danes would threaten to open the scoring in the bottom half of the sixth. With runners on the corners, English would make a great grab on a ball right at her, throwing the runner out at first to end the inning. As the game entered extra innings, English continued her dominant performance, tallying her ninth strikeout of the day to end the eighth inning. In the bottom of the 11th, freshman
Chandler Mitchell launched a perfect throw to the plate, allowing junior
Haley Cassidy to make the tag and prevent UAlbany from winning. However, the Great Danes would outlast the Hawks, plating a run in the bottom of the 12th to take game one of the three-game set.
