WEST HARTFORD, Conn. –The Hartford softball team dropped both games in its doubleheader against Stony Brook, 8-0 and 6-1, to open conference play on Saturday afternoon.
With the losses, the Hawks fell to 2-2 on the season and in the America East, while the Seawolves improved to 15-6 on the campaign and 4-0 the America East.
GAME ONE: STONY BROOK 8, HARTFORD 0 (5)
Stony Brook struck first, jumping out to a 7-0 lead after the opening inning. The Seawolves would add one more run in the top half of the fifth, holding on for the 8-0 win after five innings.
GAME TWO: STONY BROOK 6, HARTFORD 1
Stony Brook would start out hot in game two, tallying two runs in the opening inning. Hartford would respond in the bottom half of the first as freshman
Cori Jones launched her first career home run to cut the lead to 2-1. Hartford would keep the Seawolves scoreless in the second, but Stony Brook tacked on four more runs over the next four innings to secure a 6-1 win.

Julianna Kocenski (0-1) started inside the circle in game one, allowing eight hits and eight earned runs in 5.0 innings of work
· Kocenski tallied four strikeouts in the outing

Caylee English (1-1) started game two and took the loss, allowing 10 hits and four earned runs while striking out four batters
