Cross Country Sets Personal Bests at the Nassaney Invitational

SMITHFIELD, RI. – Hartford cross country opened its 2021 season on a high note on Saturday afternoon, as numerous runners set new personal-best times at the Nassaney Invitational. The men finished seventh overall in the 5k, while the women earned fifth place accolades in the 5k.

HARTFORD MEN HIGHLIGHTS
  • All 10 of Hartford's runners would set new personal-best 5k times on the afternoon, as it was the first time they have competed in the event in their collegiate careers
  • Junior Christian Deal led the Hawks in the 5k, crossing the line in a personal-best time of 16:02.0 to finish in 28th
  • Freshman Riley Brutvan was the second Hartford runner to cross the line, coming in 37th with a personal-best time of 16:20.1 in his first collegiate event
  • Junior Keith May rounded out the top three for Hartford finishing in 39th with a personal-best time of 16:25.0
  • Brown took home first place honors in the men's 5k, finishing with 36 points
 
HARTFORD WOMEN HIGHLIGHTS
  • Sophomore Abby O'Connor paced the Hawks in the 5k finishing in 23rd place with a personal-best time of 19:22:9 in her first collegiate event
  • Senior Haleemot Adeyanju was the next Hawk to cross the line in a time of 19:29.50, finishing in 28th place
  • Junior Hannah D'Orso rounded out the top three for Hartford, finishing in 33rd with a time of 19:37.3 
  • Brown claimed first place in the women's 5k event, finishing with a total of 29 points

The Hawks return to action for the New Hampshire Preview Meet, hosted by New Hampshire. The meet is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 18, on the campus of New Hampshire.
