Irene Primo dropped a team-high 11 points while freshman
Zaiha Minnis scored a career-high 10 points off the bench as the Hartford women's basketball team dropped a 71-44 decision against Weber State Sunday. The Hawks dip to 0-7 on the season while the Wildcats move to 3-3 on the year.
WEBER STATE 71, HARTFORD 44
Weber State led from wire-to-wire Sunday afternoon, taking an early advantage after starting the game on a 5-0 run. Freshman
Tatum Forbes answered after the early lead was taken by the Wildcats, netting three points of her own to close the gap to 5-3. Weber State regained its momentum and closed out the opening quarter on a 9-2 run, taking an 18-6 lead into the second. Both teams came out of the first break trading baskets before Primo would close the Weber State advantage to as little as seven points with 4:06 to go in the first half. The Wildcats would hold onto their lead, taking a 32-21 advantage into the halftime break.
Weber State continued to shoot the ball well coming out of the break in action outscoring the Hawks in the third by a total of 16 to open up 57-30 advantage heading into the fourth quarter. Hartford looked to claw its way back in the final frame after a pair of free throws from sophomore
Nayeli Dowding and four straight points from Minnis. Despite a late rally, the Wildcat advantage would prove to be too much for the Hawks to overcome as Weber State took home the victory by a score of 71-44.
