Jabria Ingram had a career-day, finishing with a game-high 23 points as the Hartford women's basketball team held on to defeat NJIT, 67-66, in overtime on Saturday. The Hawks improve to 4-24 overall and 4-13 in conference play. The Highlanders fall to 14-14 overall and 9-8 in the America East.
HARTFORD 67, NJIT 66 OT
NJIT would take an early 6-2 lead, but a 6-0 Hawks run, capped off by a
Paula Maurina layup, gave Hartford a 8-6 lead at the 6:16 mark. The Hawks kept their momentum going, extending its lead to three, after Ingram made a tough layup. Maurina would keep the momentum going, scoring four straight points to give the Hawks a 18-11 lead with 2:28 left in the quarter. NJIT would pull within four late as the Hawks took a 21-17 lead into the second quarter. Hartford would start the second quarter on fire, using a 7-0 run to take a 28-17 lead at the 7:41 mark. However, NJIT responded with an 11-0 run, tying the game up at 28-28 with 1:25 remaining in the half. The Hawks retook the lead however, ending the half on a 4-0 stretch to take a 32-28 lead into the break.
NJIT took an early lead in the third quarter, but a 5-0 stretch, fueled by an Ingram layup and a
Carmen Villalobos three, saw the Hawks take a 37-33 edge with 7:24 left in the quarter. The two times would trade buckets, until a
Lya Farcy triple reestablished a five-point lead for Hartford, 44-39. The Highlanders would pull within three as the Hawks took a 48-45 lead into the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter saw the Hawks and Highlanders trade leads. NJIT took a three-point edge, but a pair of Villalobos free throws and an Ingram jumper gave the lead back to the Hawks. The two teams continued to trade leads until a Maurina triple at the 3:10 mark tied the score at 57-57. NJIT would use a pair of free throws late to gain the advantage, but a Maurina jumper with 49 seconds remaining tied the game at 61-61, sending the game into overtime.
The Hawks would jump out early in overtime, taking a three-point lead, 64-61, in the overtime period. NJIT would fight back, taking a two-point advantage, but Ingram came up clutch, giving the Hawks the lead after an and-one layup, 67-66, with 27 seconds remaining. NJIT had a chance to win it late, but the Highlanders missed two free throws, followed up by a layup as the Hawks came away with a 67-66 victory.

- The Hawks outshot the Highlanders 43.1 percent (25-of-58 percent) compared to 37.3 percent (25-of-67)
- Hartford also outshot NJIT from three, 33.3 percent (4-of-12) to 13.3 (2-of-15)
