MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Hartford men's and women's track and field team opened its outdoor campaign in strong fashion this weekend at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge. The Hawks walked away with ten medals, including four first-place finishes. The men's team finished sixth, while the women finished the meet in eighth as a team.

HARTFORD MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- The men finished in sixth place, tallying 46 points, besting New England opponent Brown University
- Graduate student Nicholas O'Brien led the Hawks on the weekend
- O'Brien took the crown in the 1500m with a time of 4:01.96, while earning runner-up accolades in the 5k in a time of 15:14.71
- Junior Anthony Clavette walked away with the gold medal in the high jump after clearing a height of 1.93m
- Senior Dylan Murad and freshman Riley Brutvan rounded the team's top-three finishers
- Murad finished second on the podium in the shot put with a haul of 14.38m
- Brutvan came across the line in the 3k steeplechase finishing second overall in a time of 10:10.11
HARTFORD WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- The women tallied 41 points on the weekend to finish in eighth, defeating fellow New England opponent Brown University
- Senior Haleemot Adeyanju led the way for the women
- Adeyanju took home the gold in the 800m in a time of 2:22.40
- Sophomore Sydney Garrison joined Adeyanju on the top step of the podium, winning the women's high jump, after clearing a height of 1.58m
- Junior Hailey Marcello along with sophomores Abby O'Connor and Robyn Krafft finished in the top-three in each of their events
- Marcello finished third in the 3k steeplechase in a time of 11:50.72, the third best mark in program history
- O'Connor finished second in the 10k with a time of 38:19.27
- Krafft finished third in the discus with a mark of 37.22m

The Hartford outdoor track and field team is lined up for a two-week hiatus before its next meet. The Hawks return to the track on Saturday, March 26, at the UMass Lowell Invitational.
