LOWELL, Mass. – The Hartford softball team dropped its series finale of the three-game set against UMass Lowell this afternoon. The Hawks lost by a score of, 8-3 to the River Hawks. Hartford falls down to 11-13 overall on the season and 0-4 in conference play while UMass Lowell jumps up to 18-11 on the season and 3-0 against conference opponents.
UMASS LOWELL 8, HARTFORD 3
UMass Lowell got off to another fast start in the final game of the three-game set against Hartford, putting one run up on the board in the first inning. The River Hawks extended their lead to six over the Hawks in the second after five hits in the frame. Hartford was able to respond in the third after
Chandler Mitchell led off the inning with a bloop single and stolen base to advance into scoring position.
Jordan Nastos stepped up to the plate and lifted an RBI double over the center fielder's head out at the warning track to get the Hawks on the board. Over the course of the next two innings, Hawks' reliever,
Julianna Kocenski stifled the River Hawks bats, allowing no runs to cross the plate. However, UMass Lowell tacked another run on the board in the fifth extending its lead to 7-1. In the sixth,
Samantha Ganaden laced an RBI double into the right center field gap to bring
Emma Curry all the way home from first, closing the gap to 7-2. Despite a lead-off homerun from
Olivia Wolk in the seventh, the lead for UMass Lowell grew to be too much for Hartford to overcome, as the Hawks would drop the final game, 8-3.

- Lauren Card (0-5) received the start in the final game of the three-game set
- She took the loss after allowing six runs on eight hits while tallying one strikeout over 1.1 innings of work
- Kocenski entered the game in relief of Card in the second
- Kocenski threw 4.2 innings and allowed two runs on four hits and three walks while also tallying one strikeout
- Wolk launched her team leading third homerun on the season in the third game on the weekend
- Samantha Ganaden was Hartford's main threat at the plate, going 2-for-3 at the plate with one double and one RBI
