BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Hartford softball team dropped its series finale at Binghamton this afternoon. The Hawks lost game three of the three-game set, 10-2 after six innings. Hartford drops to 13-30 overall and 2-13 in conference play while Binghamton jumps to 19-19 on the season and 6-6 against conference opponents this year.
BINGHAMTON 10, HARTFORD 2 (6 Inn.)
Binghamton wasted no time getting off to a hot start in the final game of the series, jumping out to an early 2-0 lead after the first inning. In the third,
Jordan Nastos and
Mara Sczecienski got the scoring started for Hartford. Nastos and Sczecienski laced back-to-back doubles into right center field to cut the Bearcats lead to 2-1. However, Binghamton extended its lead in the bottom half of the inning after a solo blast to center field. Nastos and Sczecienski repeated their actions of the third inning once again in the fifth. Lining back-to-back doubles and bringing home the Hawks second run of the game. Despite cutting the Bearcats lead to just one in the frame, Binghamton would tack on seven more runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take the series finale from Hartford, 10-2.
