Riley Brutvan continued their strong starts to the season, finishing in the top-five for the second meet in a row. The men finished sixth in a field of eight teams, while the women took home sixth place accolades in the 5k.

MEN'S RACE HIGHLIGHTS
- Brutvan was the first Hawk to cross the line, flying across the finish in a personal-best 5k time of 15:53.3 for fourth overall
- Senior Keith May finished among the top-25 in a field of 116 runners, taking 23rd overall in a time of 16:28.8
- Seniors Cole Cayer and Matthew Konopinski along with junior Matt Speight rounded out the Hawks scorers
- Konopinski crossed the line in 16:47.4 for 34th overall, while Speight followed closely behind in 16:53.3 taking 38th
- Cayer rounded out the scoring for the men, record a time of 17:02 for 46th overall
- Merrimack took home first place honors in the men's 5k, tallying a total of 36 points
WOMEN'S RACE HIGHLIGHTS
- O'Connor took home the bronze in a blazing time of 18:45.9 over the 5k course
- Senior Hailey Marcello walked away with a top-10 finish of her own, placing ninth overall in a time of 19:20.6
- Juniors Sarah Kulpa and Hannah Perkins along with senior Gabrielle Zeller rounded out the top-five scorers for Hartford
- Kulpa came across in 20:37 for 53rd overall, while Perkins finished six seconds behind in 20:43.8 for 56th
- Zeller capped off the scoring for the women, taking 64th overall in 21:25.9
- Bryant claimed first place in the women's 5k, finishing with a total of 61 points

The Hawks will take a 13-day hiatus before returning to action for the Ted Owen Invitational, hosted by CCSU. The meet is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24, at Stanley Quarter Park in nearby New Britain, Conn.
