Women's Basketball Falls in Season Finale to Chicago State

CHICAGO, Ill. – Freshman Tatum Forbes scored a team-high 15 points, as the Hartford women's basketball team's season came to an end in heartbreaking fashion, dropping a 75-62 decision at Chicago State. The Hawks close out their season with a 2-25 mark overall, while the Cougars finish their season with a 6-22 record.  
 
CHICAGO STATE 75, HARTFORD 62
Chicago State wasted little time getting the offense rolling, jumping out to a commanding 19-4 lead after the opening frame. Looking to chip away at the deficit Hartford brought the game to within 14 points at 37-23 with a 12-2 run to finish out the opening half. The Hawks' run was fueled by five points from Tatum Forbes and four from sophomore Ta'Nya Outten
 
Coming out of the halftime break, both sides would trade baskets playing to a 41-29 contest with 8:39 remaining in the third. However, Chicago State would regain its momentum from the first quarter, utilizing an 11-0 run to open up a 23-point 52-29 advantage heading into the waning minutes of the third. Hartford closed out the third on a 7-2 run to head into the fourth trailing the Cougars 59-41.
 
The Hawks would not back down, trimming the gap to single digits with a 12-0 run fueled by back-to-back-to-back three pointers from junior Lanae Johnson-Kleinpeter and senior Irene Primo. Despite outscoring the Cougars 22-18 in the fourth, the Chicago State lead grew too much for the Hawks to overcome, eventually falling by a final score of, 75-62.

  • Forbes finished shooting 5-for-17 from the floor with a team-high 15 points and two assists.
  • Primo finished the game in double figures for the ninth time this season, scoring 11 points on the afternoon.
