Women's Hoops Comes Up Short at CCSU

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Freshman Tatum Forbes finished with a team-high 18 points as the Hartford women's basketball team dropped a, 72-55, decision against Central Connecticut State Wednesday night. The Hawks fall to 1-22 on the season, while the Blue Devils improve to 7-15 overall.

Both sides started out the game trading baskets up-and-down the floor, playing to a 12-9 decision with 3:41 remaining in the first. However, CCSU would close out the quarter on a 14-2 run to open up a commanding 26-11 lead heading into the opening break. The Blue Devils kept their momentum rolling into the second quarter, led by as much as 27 points before taking a 25-point lead into the halftime break. 
 
Hartford came out of the gates strong to start the second half, opening up the third quarter on a 5-0 run before outscoring CCSU 26-16 in the frame. Forbes paced the Hawks scoring outburst in the third, scoring 12 of her 18 points in the 10-minute span. Hartford looked to claw its way back after heading into the fourth trailing 58-43. A three pointer from junior Kymilondra Nance and layup from freshman Zaiha Minnis brought the Hawks back within 10 points of the Blue Devil lead. However, the deficit proved too much for the Hawks to overcome in the fourth quarter, as CCSU took home a 72-55 victory.
