Two School-Records Go Down at UMass Lowell Invitational

LOWELL, Mass. – The Hartford men's and women's track and field teams tore up the field at the UMass Lowell Invitational this weekend. The Hawks combined for two school-record performances and 19 top-five finishes which included five first place accolades.

HARTFORD MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Sophomore Conor Convery shattered his own school-record in the hammer throw after recording a distance of 49.30m.
  • Senior Anthony Clavette took home the gold in the high jump after clearing a height of 1.91m.
  • Sophomore Kaden Leonard rounded the track in the 400m in a blazing time of 51.63 seconds to finish third overall in the event.
  • Junior Aaron McGirr and senior Kyle Moser finished fourth overall in their respective events.
  • McGirr leapt 6.77m in the long jump, marking the sixth furthest jump in program history while Moser hauled the shotput 14.46m which was good enough for second all-time. 
  • Sophomore Riley Brutvan and senior Uchenna Duru rounded out the top-finishers for the Hawks on the men's side.
  • Brutvan clocked a time of 8:47.64 in the 3000m, while Duru threw for a distance of 45.57m in the discus. 
HARTFORD WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Senior Robyn Krafft surpassed her own school-record mark in the discus throw with a distance of 43.27m. 
  • Sophomore Marlina Voker continued her outstanding start to the outdoor campaign, taking the crown in both the 100m and 200m dash with times of 12.48 and 25.61 seconds.
  • Junior Sydney Garrison finished atop the podium in the high jump after clearing a height of 1.62m.
  • Sophomore Kayla Pelletier finished first overall in the javelin with a distance of 41.19m.
  • Sophomore Cali Leonard finished as the runner-up in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.66 seconds. 
  • Freshman Jenascia Weir and senior Hailey Marcello finished third overall in their respective events.
  • Weir flew across the line in 12.78 seconds in the 100m dash, while Marcello clocked a time of 10:31.04 in the 3000m, marking the seventh fastest time in Hartford track and field history.

The Hartford track and field team will look to build on their outdoor campaign next Saturday in Springfield, MA for the AIC invitational meet.
