Wentz announces plan to depart Hartford

University of Hartford Head Cross Country and Track & Field coach Stacie Wentz has announced her resignation following the conclusion of the 2023 outdoor season.

"Hartford Athletics is grateful to Coach Wentz for her efforts through past years that resulted in national recognition for our program," said Vice President of Athletics & Recreation Dr. Sharon Beverly. "We wish her the best with future endeavors."

During her six-year tenure, the Hawks student-athletes have broken 38 school records, while producing the track program's first NCAA National Qualifier and All-American in Terrel Davis.

Four student-athletes earned USTFCCA Academic All-American honors, while the cross country teams were ranked as high as fifth nationally for cumulative GPAs. Two student-athletes, Davis and Elizabeth Lodge – earned Conference Athletes of the Year recognition during her tenure.

"I have enjoyed my time at the University of Hartford and am thankful for the opportunity the last six years," said Wentz. "I always want to leave a program in a better place than when I started and feel I have done that. This decision will allow me more time to spend with my family."

A national search for a new coach will begin immediately.
