Green Promoted to Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach

The University of Hartford Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Connor Green to take over as the department's new Head Men's and Women' Cross Country and Track & Field Coach. Green has spent the last two years at Hartford as the Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach.

According to Aaron Isaacs, Vice President of Student Success & Dean of Students at the University, over the past two years, Green has helped lead student-athletes to 10 record breaking performances. "When you stop to think about Connor's leadership", said Isaacs, "including student achievement of 81 top ten all-time marks between the indoor and outdoor campaigns, nine All-New England honorees and one NCAA Regional Qualifier, we are most fortunate to have him as our head coach."

Green joined Hartford's coaching staff in 2021-22 after a successful eight-year stint at Southington High School, where he served as the Blue Knights' head coach of both the boys indoor track & field team and the girls outdoor track & field team. In addition, he was the assistant cross country coach for the boy's and girl's programs.

"I am excited to have earned the opportunity to lead this program," Green said. "I believe in the mission that the University of Hartford has for our teams and know that they will continue to grow and excel at the highest level.

"I want to thank Dr. (David) Goldenberg, Dean Isaacs, and the entire hiring committee for entrusting me with these programs. We have an incredible group of student-athletes, who achieve at the highest level both in the classroom and on the track. The community and institution can continue to expect to see great things from these programs in the coming years.'

With experience coaching every event during his tenure at Southington, Green's student-athletes combined to break more than 60 school records between the indoor and outdoor seasons. In addition, several Blue Knights enjoyed individual success, as he coached 31 National qualifiers, 14 Connecticut Class LL State Champions, and four New England Champions.

Green's teams enjoyed great success at the conference and state level. In 2018, the girls outdoor squad captured the Connecticut State Open Championship for the first time in school history, while in 2021, the team earned runner-up honors at the Class LL Meet.
