KINGSTON, R.I. – The Hartford men's and women's track and field teams opened the new year today at the URI Invitational. The Hawks had a strong overall performance, seeing fifteen top-ten finishers including five top-five.

HARTFORD MEN HIGHLIGHTS

The men were led by Freshman Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah and junior duo Kaden Leonard and Brandon Edmund

Owusu-Ansah took home the bronze in the triple jump with a mark of 13.24m and finished top-ten in the long jump with a leap of 6.55m

Leonard took home a first place finish in the 200m dash, clocking a time of 22.57

Edmund earned a spot on the podium alongside Leonard, recording a time of 22.83 for a runner-up finish

Junior Conor Convery and Graduate Kyle Moser took home top-ten finishes in the weight throw with marks of 14.95m and 14.35m respectively

Moser hurled the shotput a distance of 14.24m to finish within the top-ten in the event

Sophomore Jovan Joseph finished ninth in the 500m dash blazing the track in a time of 1:08.00
HARTFORD WOMEN HIGHLIGHTS

The women were led by Junior Marlina Voker and Senior duo Sydney Garrison, and Emily Parchinski

Junior Marlina Voker had an outstanding day on the track earning two top-ten finishes in both the 60m and 200m dash

Voker flew across the line in the 60m at 7.89, before clocking a time of 25.49 over the 200m distance

Clearing a height of 1.65m in the high jump, senior Sydney Garrison finished fourth overall in the event

Parchinski finished within the top-five in the 400m dash rounding the track in a time of 1:00.98

Graduate student Hailey Marcello ran the mile in 5:13.58 to finish within the top-ten in the event
