McCoy, Naszimento Combine for 31 Points

BOSTON, Mass. – Freshmen Adrianna McCoy and Ava Naszimento combined for 31 points as the University of Hartford women's basketball team ended the season with a 52-47 victory over Commonwealth Coast Conference foe Wentworth Tuesday at the Nelson Recreation Center.

Naszimento pulled down a pair of offensive boards off missed free throws in the final minute helping the Hawks maintain possession, and eventually pushing the one-point lead to three as Hartford went 2-of-6 from the charity stripe on the possession. She finished with nine rebounds and 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting and 5-of-6 from the foul line.

McCoy led the team with 18 points, four assists, and three steals.

Hartford finished with season 11-14 overall, 7-11 against CCC opponents.

The Hawks went on a game-altering 7-0 run, including a clutch three-pointer by freshman Kendall Rieman, to take a six-point lead with 3:46 remaining in the game.

It was a back-and-forth contest with WIT having its largest lead of five points and Hartford with seven. With the Hawks holding its largest lead with 1:12 left in the third quarter, it appeared as if Hartford was prepared to put a stranglehold on the win. The Leopards responded with eight straight to take the lead in the opening moments of the fourth quarter.

The aforementioned Hartford run kicked off the winning proceedings, and the Hawks held on for the win.
