Amherst, Mass. – Sophomore Mariah Nichols and freshman Jordan Murphy competed at the UMass Multi-Challenge l this week. Nichols finished 13th overall, tallying a total of 2748 points in the heptathlon for a top ten all-time performance. While Murphy finished seventh in the heptathlon, tallying a total of 3883 points for a #7 all-time performance

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

On Day 1 of the Multi-Challenge Freshman Jordan Murphy and Sophomore Mariah Nichols had an excellent start, combining for a total of six personal bests on the day.

Murphy tied for first place in the long jump, with a personal best clearance of 1.61m.

Murphy finished third in the shot put with a personal best mark of 9.95m.
- Murphy finished fifth in the 100m hurdles, clocking a personal best time of 16.41.
- Nichols finished ninth in the 100m hurdles, clocking a personal best time of 17.31.

Murphy finished ninth in the 200m dash, rounding the track in a personal best time of 28.91.

Nichols finished 11th overall in the shot put with a personal best mark of 8.35m.

DAY 2 MULTI CHALLENGE HiGHLIGHTS

Murphy finished eight in the long jump with a leap of 4.60m, while Nichols finished 12th overall with a leap of 4.19m.

Nichols finished fifth in the javelin throw with a mark of 26.26m ,while Murphy finished eighth with a mark of 23.05m.

Murphy finished third in the 800m run, clocking a time of 2:38.99, while Nichols finished ninth in the 800m run, clocking a time of 2:46.66.
