Pelletier Named Mideast Region Field Athlete of The Year

NEW ORLEANS – The University of Hartford track and field program is well represented on the Regional Athletes of the year for the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season as junior Kayla Pelletier was named the Mideast region Women's field athlete of the year, the U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association ( USTFCCCA)  announced today (May 22, 2024).

"Our coaching staff is so proud of Kayla and her accomplishments. She is a dedicated student-athlete with a work ethic of the highest caliber. She is absolutely deserving of this award!"  said Head Track and Field coach Connor Green.

"When you have someone of Kayla's attack, attention to detail and overall talent level, she makes you look real good as a coach, its a collective effort and all credit goes to her!" said throws coach Dante Hill

Pelletier, who hails from Southington, Connecticut, is the  national leader in the javelin throw at 45.70m (149-11), a mark that she notched at the Trinity ( Conn.) Invitational. Pelletier wrapped up her historic 2024 outdoor campaign in stellar fashion, during the post season she finished with the furthest throw at the CCC Championships with a mark of 43.22m ( 141-8) . Followed by a podium appearance at the NEICAAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a mark of 41.19m ( 135-2). 
 

Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches at the conclusion of the regular season. Only those individuals from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.
