BOSTON, Mass. – In game one against Suffolk, Hartford clinched a narrow victory with a final score of 9-8.
Junior Olivia Wolk led the Hawks as she went 4-for-4 with three runs scored, three RBIs, and two home runs. Her first home run came early in the game, driving herself and freshman Alexis Sealey home. Wolk continued her impressive performance with another home run in the third inning despite the Hawks trailing 3-6.
Despite Hartford trailing 3-7, they fought back, with sophomore Gia Miccio's RBI single and took advantage of Suffolk's errors to narrow the lead to 6-7.
The game remained close, with Sealey's crucial home run in the sixth inning tying the score at 7-7. Sealey repeated her heroics in the seventh inning, tying the game at 8-8. However, Suffolk managed to score once more, ultimately securing the win.
Sophomore Carly Mayhood pitched for Hartford, allowing four earned runs over two innings. At the same time, freshman Alex Hassett (2-3) took over and pitched 4.2 innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs with four strikeouts.
GAME TWO: HARTFORD 11, SUFFOLK 4
Hartford dominated the game, scoring runs in every inning except the 6th. They maintained the lead throughout the game, scoring two runs in the first three innings to establish a 6-0 lead early on.
The offensive onslaught continued as freshman Alexis Beebe doubled to center field, bringing in two more runs by sending Wolk and Sealey home. Sealey then added to the lead with a homer, scoring herself and sophomore Anita Farkash to extend Hartford's lead to 4-0.
Sophomore Sarah Serrano contributed with a single to left field, bringing in a run, while Bridget Bernard's walk brought in another, further bolstering Hartford's lead. Graduate Mara Sczecienski then doubled down the left field line, adding another run as Farkash followed up with a home run, bringing in another run.
O. Wolk's single to right field and sophomore Azya Walker's homer to center field added to Hartford's impressive run tally, with two RBIs each. The game concluded with Walker's homer bringing in Bernard, securing the final run for Hartford.
Sealey (9-2) earned the win pitching for Hartford, contributing to their dominant performance. Pitching all seven innings, surrendering three unearned runs on eight hits with three strikeouts.
