DARTMOUTH, Mass. — Hartford Men's Cross Country competed in the Men's 8000m Navy at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, September 19th, placing fourth out of 20 teams. The Hawks were the top-finishing Division III team in the field.
Rapid Recap:
- Hartford was led by junior Owen Klein (Coventry, R.I.) who placed first overall with a personal best time of 25:19.02 in the 8K.
- Senior Keller Casey (Charlton, N.Y) was next to cross the line for the Hawks placing 18th with a time of 26:31.79.
- Senior Trae McIntyre (Troy, N.Y.), junior Daren Johnson (Meriden, Conn.), and sophomore Mikael Isaacs (Danbury, Conn.) rounded out Hartford's scoring five, placing 33rd, 44th, and 60th, respectively, with times of 27:06.01, 27:28.08, and 28:05.20.
- UMass Lowell would be the top team today with a final score of 20 and nine different top 10 finishes.
Post-Race Press:
"I honestly didn't expect to run well this early in the season. It felt great to finish and see a huge PR on the clock. I did my best to stay smooth through the first 5k and just fought to the finish line. It was definitely helpful to have some people up with me to push me through to the finish," Klein said.
Up Next:
The Hawks will take a two-week hiatus before traveling to Bethlehem, PA to compete in the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University on October 2nd.
