Connor Green enters his fourth season as the Head Cross Country and Track & Field coach in 2026-27 after being promoted to head coach on July 17th, of 2023. 

In 2025-26, the Hawks cross country and track & field programs under Green had arguably the best year in program history. Hartford would crown its first individual NCAA National Champion on May 23rd as Kayla Pelletier won the outdoor track & field javelin throw competition. Connor would be named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mideast Women's Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year. Green would also lead both programs to a sweep of the Conference of New England (CNE) Championships as the men's track & field team would win its second-consecutive CNE Championship, while the women's track & field team would capture their first CNE Championship. Overall in the full track & field season the Hawks would have five USTFCCCA Women's All-Americans with Jordan Murphy becoming the first indoor All-American in program history and then later the first outdoor All-American in program history. Murphy would be joined by Tamara Greene and Kayla Pelletier as All-Americans. During the 2025-26 season the Hawks would break 13 school records, have 37 CNE All-Conference selections, and 33 USTFCCCA All-Region choices. The Hawks would also break 320 personal bests and 111 top 10 marks in program history. During the cross country seasons Hartford's men's program would finish 3rd in the CNE Championships and 16th in the NCAA Mideast Regionals, while the women's program would place 5th in the CNE Championships and 19th in the NCAA Mideast Regionals. Green would coach another four CNE All-Conference cross country selections. After the season Owen Klein would be named the CNE Elite 21 winner as well as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete selection. Both cross country teams would also earn the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team title. Hartford at the end of the season would see 10 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selections.

In 2024-25, Green led the cross country and track & field programs to a huge year. The teams hosted its first ever cross country meet at Keney Park on September 7th and hosted the first ever Rage in the Cage Invitational at the newly opened Grant Family Track & Field. The women's cross country team placed in 6th in the Conference of New England (CNE) Championships, while also coming in 2nd in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships. The men's cross country team place in 5th in the CNE Championships while winning the ECAC Championship on November 9th. In the indoor track and field season the Hawks women's team placed in 17th in the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships before coming in 13th in the Division III New England Championships. The men's indoor team came in 18th in the Division III New England Championships before placing a program best 10th in the NEICAAA Championships. In the outdoor season the Hawks women placed in 2nd in the CNE Championships, before coming in 25th in the NEICAAA Championships and 14th in NCAA Division III New England Championships. The men's team would win the CNE Championship on April 26th before placing in 18th in the NEICAAA Championships and 14th in the NCAA Division III New England Championships. Over the course of the season the Hawks track & field programs had 94 program top 10s and nine school records. Hartford also had eight track student-athletes ranked nationally in 2024-25 with two in indoor and six in outdoor season.

In his first season as the head coach, Green led the women's cross country team to a 2nd and the men's cross country team to a 3rd place finish in the ECAC Championships. In track & field the Hawks women's team finished the Indoor New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships in 11th before placing in 6th in the outdoor NEICAAA Championships. On the men's side the Hawks finished 24th in the Indoor NEICAAA Championships before coming in 18th in the Outdoor NEICAAA Championships.

Prior to being head coach, Green served two seasons (2021-23) as the assistant coach for the program in charge of jumps, sprints and hurdles.

He came to Hartford after a successful eight-year stint at Southington High School, where he served as the Blue Knights’ head coach of both the boys indoor track and field team and the girls outdoor track and field team. In addition, he was the assistant boys and girls cross country coach.

During his two years with the program, Green developed three school-record breaking student-athletes in Marlina Volker (women’s indoor 300 meters), Kaden Leonard (men’s indoor 300 meters), and Joseph Lothamer (men’s indoor and outdoor pole vault). Additionally, under his tutelage 37 all-time top-10 marks were achieved during the indoor and outdoor seasons.

With experience coaching every event during his tenure at Southington, Green’s student-athletes combined to break more than 60 school records between the indoor and outdoor seasons. In addition, several Blue Knights enjoyed individual success, as he coached 31 National qualifiers, 14 Connecticut Class LL State Champions and four New England Champions. 
 
His teams enjoyed great success at the conference and state level. In 2018, the girls outdoor squad captured the Connecticut State Open Championship for the first time in school history, while in 2021, the team earned runner-up honors at the Class LL Meet.
 
Green, who attended Wethersfield High School, graduated from Manchester Community College with an Associate of Science in exercise science before receiving a Bachelor of Science in exercise science from Central Connecticut State University. He went on to earn his Master’s in Education in coaching education and athlete development from Xavier University. 
 
Green holds a USAFT Level 1 certificate, and USTFCCCA certificates in Technical, Throwing Event Specialist, Multi-Event Specialist and Strength & Conditioning. He resides in New Britain, Conn., with his wife, Brittany, and their dog, Zeus.
