Elizabeth Hutchinson, an Assistant Athletic Trainer, joined the University of Hartford sports medicine staff for the 2010-11 season, and works primarily with the women’s basketball program.
After earning her undergraduate degree in athletic training from Southern Connecticut State University, Hutchinson went on to earn a master’s in physical education from Central Connecticut State University in 2008. In the summer between her stints at Southern Connecticut and Central Connecticut, she interned with the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun.
During her time at Central Connecticut, Hutchinson was a graduate assistant where she worked primarily with the Blue Devils’ women’s soccer team while assisting with the softball, women’s lacrosse, football, and baseball squads. In addition to her work at Central Connecticut, Hutchinson was an adjunct professor for a care and prevention of athletic injuries at St. Joseph’s College.
Hutchinson also has high school athletic training experience as she assisted at Choate Rosemary Hall High School in Wallingford, Conn., as a graduate student. At Choate Rosemary Hall, she served as an athletic trainer for the girls’ and boys’ hockey teams, continuing those efforts until beginning her current stint at Hartford.
Hutchinson is a member of the NATA and is a licensed athletic trainer in the state of Connecticut. She also works closely with UConn’s athletic training program as a preceptor for their undergraduate students. In addition, Hutchinson is also a certified American Red Cross Instructor for First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Lay Responder.Â
