  • Title
    Volunteer Track & Field Coach
    Pole Vault
Joey Lothamer joins the Hartford Track & Field staff for the 2025-26 season.

Lothamer closed out his Hartford career as the indoor and outdoor school record holder in the pole vault, hitting a best of 4.60 meters (15'1") and establishing himself as one of the program’s most consistent and technically sharp vaulters. He earned Conference of New England Second Team honors and Academic All-Conference recognition while serving as a steady presence in the Hawks’ jumps group.

Now a coach, Joey, brings the perspective of a school-record-setting vaulter and a storyteller. He’s the author of "Get Over It," a children’s book that uses pole vault as a metaphor to teach kids about overcoming challenges and believing in themselves — a perfect reflection of his coaching style. His blend of technical knowledge, clear communication, and personal success gives his athletes a mentor who knows how to develop people, not just performances.
