John Aylsworth enters his 8th season as an assistant coach for the Hartford men’s golf team in 2025-26 and his 4th as women’s assistant coach.
Since Aylsworth’s arrival in 2018, the Hawks have put up impressive team numbers on the links. Posting top five team finishes at 24 men’s events during that stretch — including 7 first-place performances and multiple individual titles.
Hartford has also combined to post some of the top team scoring averages in program history under the guidance of Aylsworth. In his third season in 2020-21, he helped the Hawks land a 296.27 team stroke average, which is the fifth-best mark in program history. In addition, during Aylsworth’s first campaign at Hartford in 2018-19, the team averaged 296.08 strokes per round, marking the fourth-lowest score in Hartford’s Division I era.
Aylsworth retired in 2017 after spending 17 years as an independent sales representative. During that stint, he represented Cobra-Puma Golf, Dynamic Brands, Etonic, Page & Tuttle, R J Shepard Waterford and Sundog. Prior to that, Aylsworth was a sales representative for Cobra Golf Company in Carlsbad, Calif., where he managed the Western New England territory.
Aylsworth is a graduate of Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C., where he earned a degree in business administration and was a four-year member of the golf team. He is an emeritus member of the Board of Directors for the Connecticut State Golf Association (CSGA).
