University of Hartford

Kevin Sanna enters his first season as the head coach of the men's lacrosse program after being hired on July 27th of 2026. Sanna is the 15th head coach in program history. 

Sanna assumes the head coaching role after serving as the program's associate head coach for the past two seasons. Kevin joined the Hartford men's lacrosse coaching staff in 2019, where he began as a volunteer assistant before being promoted to assistant coach in 2021 and later to associate head coach on August 14th of 2024.

During his time on the coaching staff, the Hawks have compiled a 42-39 record. Hartford earned double-digit wins in back-to-back seasons in 2025 and 2026, marking the first time the program has accomplished that feat in consecutive years. Sanna who has been the defensive coordinator in the most recent successful run has led the Hawks to causing the 2nd (133 in 2025) and 3rd (121 in 2026) most turnovers in program history as well as holding teams to a 8.80 goals per game across the past two years. 

Prior to being on the coaching staff, Sanna was a standout defenseman for the Hartford Hawks from 2013-17. He was a two-year team captain, a three-time America East All-Academic Team choice, a 2017 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's (NEILA) Academic All-New England Team selection and a 2017  American East Elite 18 Team honor. In his 58 career games for the Hawks, Kevin would make 55 starts with 60 ground balls and 33 caused turnovers. Sanna still sits 10th in program history for career caused turnovers. 

Sanna's playing career at Hartford was highlighted by one of the top defensive plays in program history. With 71 seconds remaining in regulation and the Hawks trailing by one goal to #4 UAlbany in the semifinals of the 2016 America East Tournament, Sanna forced a pivotal turnover that led to the game-tying goal with 28 seconds remaining. The Hawks went on to stun the Great Danes in overtime, 11-10, before defeating Vermont, 17-16, to claim the program's second America East Championship.

Sanna graduated from the University of Hartford's Barney School of Business with a bachelor's degree in marketing in 2016. He would later earn his Master of Business Administration in 2017.
