WGolf Finishes Fifth at Sacred Heart

 

MILFORD, CT ? The University of Hartford women's golf team finished fifth out of nine teams at the Sacred Heart Fall Classic on Monday afternoon at Great River Golf Club.

Sacred Heart took home the team title and had three players finish among the top four individuals. The Pioneers logged the two lowest team rounds of the tournament and finished with a two-day total of 639. Sacred Heart's Carly Bergin (154) earned medalist honors by two shots over Dartmouth's Lauren Strickler (156).

Hartford's round of 345 on Monday was seven shots better than its first round. The Hawks finished with a team total of 697 and were led by freshman Emily Linn, who recorded her best collegiate finish (T-8th) by shooting 163.

Junior Paige Gauthier and senior Megan Claxton each improved their score on the second day. Gauthier knocked 11 shots off her first round total and finished tied for 19th at 173. Claxton trimmed three strokes off her first round score and tied for 27th at 177. Rounding out the scoring for the Hawks were freshman Kelsey Walsh (33rd, 184) and junior Kara Sikorski (37th, 191).

The Sacred Heart Fall Classic was Hartford's final tournament of the fall season.
