Bridgeport, CT ? The University of Hartford men's and women's tennis teams dropped 6-1decisions to the Sacred Heart Pioneers on Friday afternoon. The women were led by Raquel Casino who won at number one singles.
Casino forced a third set tiebreaker after winning the first set 6-2. The Pioneers Julianne Kassinow battled for a 6-2 win in the second set and defeated Casino 10-7 in the tiebreaking set. Kasey Michels, Niki Haynal, Hali Dorfman and Michelle Tafur all picked up points in their singles sets.
On the men's side, Artur Muller and William White combined at number one doubles to force extra points before falling 9-7 to Kirill Kasyanov and Nick Mazzarese. Muller also played tight at number one singles where he fell by scores of 7-5 and 6-1 to Kasyanov. The men's point came at number three singles, where Filip Miletic won by default.
Both teams return to action on Sunday when they travel to Hofstra for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Hempstead, NY.
