Third season as a Hartford women’s tennis player ... saw action in six matches as a sophomore ... played at fourth or fifth singles and second or third doubles last season ... played in 13 matches as a freshman, including both matches at the America East Championship ... saw time mostly in the number five singles and third doubles positions ... graduated from Columbia High School where she played four seasons of tennis ... received the Outstanding Contribution award while participating at the Adirondack Camp in the summer of 2002 ... received the team’s most improved award in her senior high school season ... daughter of Thomas Tafur and Sheila Kopchick ... enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in chemistry and biology.

Coach Raymond Says: “Michelle has an enormous amount of enthusiasm for the sport of tennis. Her game is improving based on extra time spent hitting, and I’ll look to her to round out our lineup this season. She balances her tennis with several academic commitments, such as serving as a teaching assistant in science courses and taking a double major."
