West Hartford, CT – The University of Hartford volleyball team dropped its seventh-straight match with a three-set loss (25-14, 25-14, 25-22) to the Binghamton Bearcats at home on Sunday afternoon. Hartford drops to 6-14 overall and 0-4 in conference play, while Binghamton is now 10-8 overall and 2-0 in conference action.
Binghamton's hitting finished with an impressive .476 hitting percentage with only four errors in all three sets combined. The Bearcats put down a total of 43 kills in 82 total attempts. Leading all players was Anna Lejina with 16 kills and two errors in 32 total attacks for a .438 hitting percentage. Also leading the Bearcats was Michelle McDonouch with 12 kills and one error in 24 total attempts for a .458 hitting percentage.
Leading Hartford was freshman Kami Nethersole who finished with nine kills and a .286 hitting percentage. The rookie finished with only three errors in the match in 21 total hits. Also hitting well for Hartford was Erin Macro with eight kills and Maddison Molyneux with seven kills.
As a team, Hartford finished the match hitting .078 with 33 kills and 25 errors in 102 total attacks. Junior setter Lindsay Ford led Hartford with 25 assists, while sophomore Michelle Cordell finished with a match-best four aces.
Defensively, Hartford was led by Ford who finished with six digs. Cordell, Macro and Hallie Fullagar each added five digs for Hartford, while Lindsay Makowicki finished with four. The Hawks combined for just two blocks in the match, both solo blocks from Cordell and Nethersole.
Hartford will next play at Sacred Heart University on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
