Hawks Fall in Three Sets to Albany on Friday

The University of Hartford volleyball team dropped a three-set decision (25-14, 25-15, 25-12) to the Albany Great Danes at the Reich Family Pavilion on Friday night. Hartford falls to 6-13 overall in 2009 and 0-3 in America East play.

Hartford was led by freshman hitter Kami Nethersole who finished with 10 kills, the only Hawk and one of only two players in the match in double figures. Nethersole also led the Hawks in hitting percentage with four errors in 26 total attempts for a .231 hitting percentage.

Senior hitter Erin Macro finished second for Hartford with six kills, while Michelle Cordell added three and Sydney Scott contributed three kills. Junior setter Lindsay Ford led Hartford with 22 assists.

Defensively, the Hawks were led by four players who all finished with four digs each, Nethersole, Ford, Hallie Fullagar and Sarah Boss. Hartford finished the match hitting .075 with 28 kills and 21 errors in 93 attacks.

Traci Vandegrift led the Great Danes, and all players in the game, with 11 kills and a.500 hitting percentage with three errors in 16 total attempts. As a team, the Great Danes hit .412 for the match with 41 kills and only eight errors in 80 total attempts.

 

The Hawks continue conference play on Sunday afternoon when they welcome the Binghamton Bearcats to town for a 1:00 p.m. start.
