Volleyball Falls to Stony Brook in Four Sets on Sunday

The University of Hartford volleyball team (7-18 overall, 0-7 AE) dropped a four-set (13-25, 16-25, 25-22, 10-25) match to the Stony Brook Seawolves (12-11 overall, 4-3 AE) in an America East match-up on Sunday afternoon.

The Hawks were led by their senior hitter Erin Macro who finished with 10 kills, the only Hartford player with double digit kills Macro finished the game hitting .091 with seven errors in 33 total attacks.

Hartford's best hitting as a team  came in the third set, when they connected on 14-of-27 swings, with only six going down as errors, finishing with a .296 hitting percentage. For the match, the Hawks finished with a -.008 hitting percentage with 33 total kills and 34 errors in 121 total attacks.

Also hitting well for Hartford was Michelle Cordell who finished with eight kills and led the team in hitting percentage with only two errors in 19 attacks for a .316 hitting percentage. Hallie Fullagar finished with seven kills for Hartford, who had six of its seven players finished with at least one kills.

Junior setter Lindsay Ford finished with 30 assists on the 33 total kills for the Hawks, while sophomore defensive specialist Danielle Etta finished with 12 digs in her second match back after suffering an injury. Etta's 12 digs led the Hws and was the only player in double figures for digs.

 

Also leading the way defensively was Fullagar with nine and Maddison Molyneux with eight digs. Hartford, as a team, finished with seven total blocks, led by Macro who finished with four total blocks, one solo and three block assists. Fullagar and Cordell each added three blocks for Hartford.

Stony Brook was led by Harmonie Calinda who finished with 16 kills and a .250 attack percentage. Ashley Headen led all players in the game with a .474 hitting percentage, finishing with just one error and 10 kills in 19 total swings.

Hartford returns to West Hartford for their home finale on Friday, November 6 at 6:00 p.m., welcoming the New Hampshire Wildcats to the Reich Family Pavilion.
