WGolf Drops Head-to-Head Match with Rutgers

 

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL - The University of Hartford women's golf team opened the 2009 spring season with a head-to-head match against Rutgers on Wednesday at the PGA Village Dye Course.

Rutgers won the match with 41.5 points to Hartford's 30.5. The best-ball format consisted of four two-man teams for each side competing for a total of 18 points over 18 holes. Teams were awarded one point for winning a hole and a half point for splitting a hole. A total of 72 points were up for grabs.

The teams of senior Megan Claxton and junior Catie Dillman and freshmen Kelsey Walsh and Marissa Kallaugher each came away with 8.5 points. Freshman Emily Linn and junior Sadie Heald took home 7.0 points while juniors Paige Gauthier and Kara Sikorski grabbed 6.5 points.

Hartford will next compete at the Hoya Invitational on March 30-31 in Beallsville, MD.
