BOX SCORE VS. RHODE ISLAND
East Hartford, CT - The University of Hartford women's tennis team dropped two matches to the Binghamton Bearcats and the Rhode Island Rams in a tri-match held at the East Hartford Tennis Club on Saturday. The Binghamton match was the America East opener for Hartford.
The Bearcats complete a sweep of the Hawks in the top-five singles positions, not allowing any Hawk to score a set win. In doubles play, the Hawks picked up a set win in all three position, falling 8-1 in each.
Against the Rams, Hartford was led by its third singles player, Maggie Sabatino. Sabatino forced an extra game in the final set, falling by scores of 6-1, 7-5 to Grace Hedstrom. Kasey Michels and Kara Pease also put up fights at first and second singles. Michles fell by scores of 6-1, 6-3 to Cristin Cadigan at first singles, while Pease dropped her match by scores of 6-3, 6-1 to Tristany Leikem.
The women's tennis team returns to action on March 26, hosting the Marist Red Foxes at the Hartford Tennis Courts on campus. The match is schedule to start at 3:00 p.m.
