West Hartford, CT – The University of Hartford women's soccer team were blanked 4-0 by Fairfield University on Thursday evening at Al-Marzook Field.
Four Fairfield players reached the back of the net as the Stags struck once in the first half and added three more goals in the final 45 minutes. The loss dropped Hartford to 2-3-0 overall on the season, while Fairfield improved to 2-3-0.
Leading Fairfield was sophomore Jasmin Corniel who accumulated three points, including the game-winning mark in the 15th minute. In the second half, Lauren Reilly added a goal in the 60th minute and Chrissie Sidie put the game out of reach, striking in the 68 minute. The Stags' final tally came with over one minute remaining on a score from Rachel Madasci off the foot of Corniel.
In net, Kelly Boudreau needed two saves to earn the shutout for the Stags. Hartford keeper Lauren Brodeur made five stops for the Hawks.
The Hawks welcome CCSU Blue Devils to West Hartford on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. for the second of three-straight home dates. Hartford and Central Connecticut will be meeting for the 10th time in the history of the two programs. The two teams battled to a 0-0 double overtime draw in the season opener last season.
