Cambridge, MA – The University of Hartford volleyball team dropped a 3-1 match to the Rhode Island Rams in its first match at the Boston College Invitational on Friday afternoon. The Hawks (5-5 overall) were led by senior Erin Macro who finished with a team-high 14 kills.
Macro also led the Hawks hitting efforts with a .387 attack percentage with two errors in 31 total attempts. Also hitting well for Hartford was freshman Kami Nethersole who finished with 12 kills and four errors in 39 total attempts for a .205 attack percentage. Also leading the Hawks hitters was senior Hallie Fullagar with eight kills.
Junior setter Lindsay Ford continued to captain the Hawks offense with 38 assists. She also finished with no errors and six kills in 12 total attacks for a .500 attack percentage. Ford also added 11 digs to complete the double double.
Sophomore defensive specialist Danielle Etta led the Hawks defensively with 23 digs, one of three players with double figure digs. Fullagar finished second with 15 digs, while also leading the Hawks serving efforts with three aces. Macro led the Hawks blockers with five total blocks, two solo and three block assists.
As a team, Hartford hit .205 for the match finishing with 50 kills and 17 errors in 161 total attacks. Rhode Island was led by Kayla Wilson who finished with a match-high 21 kills and only three errors in 49 total attempts for a .367 attack percentage. As a team, the Rams finished with 61 total kills and 19 errors in 170 total attempts.
