West Point, NY – The University of Hartford women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 weekend match-up against the Army Black Knights after allowing a goal within the first two minutes of the game at Clinton Field. Hartford falls to 3-4-1 overall, while Army improves to 4-3-1 overall.
The Black Knights took advantage of Hartford right out of the gate scoring with just 1:57 off the clock Elizabeth Betterbed scored the only goal of the game unassisted when she buried the ball in the back of the net on the right side.
Hartford finished the game outshooting Army by a 20-15 advantage, while also finishing with more shots on goal then the Black Knights, 6-4.
Hartford's Lauren Brodeur suffered the loss in net, playing all 90 minutes. She finished the game with three saves, all coming in the second 45 minute period. Alex Lostetter needed six saves to record the shutout, three in each half.
The women's soccer team will play one more game on the road before returning to West Hartford. The Hawks will play at Princeton on Wednesday, September 23, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
