Smithfield, RI – The University of Hartford volleyball team snapped a three-match losing skid with a three-set road win over the Bryant Bulldogs. Hartford was led by senior Erin Macro who completed her second error-free game of the season with 10 kills.
Macro took a total of 13 swings in the game and had only three put back into play, finishing the match with a .769 hitting percentage. Freshman Kami Nethersole also hit well for Hartford with 10 kills and only one error in 19 total attempts for a .474 attack percentage.
Two other Hawks finished errorless in the game, senior Hallie Fullagar and junior Lindsay Ford. Both finished with five kills with Ford hitting .714, with total attempts, and Fullagar hitting .455 for the match taking 11 swings. Ford also captained the Hawks offense, finishing with 30 assists. She also led the Hawks serving efforts, finishing with three of the teams' five total aces.
Defensively, sophomore Danielle Etta finished with a team high nine kills, while senior Sarah Boss added seven digs. The Hawks finished with only one block in the game, with Nethersole and Michelle Cordell combining to stop the Bulldogs attack.
As a team, Hartford hit .385 for the match with 43 total kills and eight errors in 91 total attempts. The Bulldogs also hit well, finishing with 44 kills and 10 errors in 93 total attempts for a .366 hitting percentage. Bryant was led in the match by Maria Scocca who finished with 12 kills and two errors in 19 total attacks for a.526 hitting percentage.
Hartford will continue its seven-game road swing with a tri-match at Columbia on Saturday. The Hawks will take on Cornell University at 4:30 p.m. and then take on the host Lions at 7:00 p.m.
