New Britain, CT – The University of Hartford volleyball team dropped a three-set match at Central Connecticut State University on Wednesday night. The Hawks (6-10 overall) were led in the match by freshman Kami Nethersole who finished with a match-high 11 kills, the only Hartford player in double figures.
Nethersole led the Hawks hitters with a .429 attack percentage, finishing with only two errors in 21 total attempts. Finishing second for the Hawks was senior Erin Macro who compiled eight total kills but suffered nine hitting errors.
As a team, Hartford hit .073 with 36 total kills and 28 errors in 109 total attacks. Hartford's best hitting came in the first set with 11 kills and seven errors in 27 total attacks for a .148 hitting percentage.
Defensively, Sarah Boss led the Hawks and one other player with double digit digs. She finished with 13 digs total, while Hallie Fullagar finished with 11 digs. Nethersole and Macro led the team's blocking efforts, each finishing with two block assists.
The Blue Devils finished the match with 32 kills and only 10 error sin 93 total attacks for a .237 hitting percentage. Emily Cochran led CCSU with nine kills and only one error in the match.
The Hawks will open up America East action this weekend when they host the Stony Brook Seawolves on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. and the UMBC Retrivers on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Both matches will be held at the Sports Center on the West Hartford campus.
