Macro Leads Hawks to Home Victory 3-0 Over Holy Cross

The University of Hartford picked up its first home win of the season in three sets (25-15, 25-20, 25-22) over the Holy Cross Crusaders on Monday night. Hartford was led in the match by senior Erin Macro who compiled 13 total kills.

Macro, who was the only player in double figures, hit .300 for the match with only four errors in 30 total attempts. Leading all hitters was sophomore Michelle Cordell who finished with seven kills and one error in 11 attacks for a .545 attack percentage. Also hitting well for Hartford was sophomore Sydney Scott who finished with four kills and no errors in 10 total attempts (.400). Senior Maddison Molyneux also hit will, finishing second on the team with nine kills.

Junior setter Lindsay Ford captained the Hawks offense, finishing with 32 assists, while Scott added three assists for Hartford. Ford also led the Hawks defensively with seven digs. Macro also led Hartford's serving and blocking efforts with four aces and five total blocks, one solo and four block assists. As a team, Hartford finished with 10 total blocks.

As a team, the Hawks hit .297 for the match with 42 kills and 15 errors in 91 total attempts. Hartford's best hitting came in the second set, with a total of 18 kills and four errors in 30 total attempts for a .467 attack percentage.

Holy Cross hit .058 for the game with 27 kills and 22 errors in 86 total attempts. The Crusaders were led by Callie Black with eight kills.

The Hawks return to action next Saturday when they welcome the St. Francis (NY) Terriers to the Sports Center for a 2:00 p.m. showdown.
