Nethersole and Scott Lead Hawks in Friday Night Loss at UConn

The University of Hartford volleyball team remains winless in 2010, dropping a three-set (23-25, 19-25, 13-25) match to the host Connecticut Huskies in the UConn Toyota Classic on Friday night. Hartford was led in the match by sophomore Kami Nethersole and junior Sydney Scott, who each finished with eight kills.

Scott led all hitters in the game, finishing with just one error in 12 total attacks for a career-high hitting percentage of .583. Also hitting well for Hartford was redshirt-freshman Lindsay Swan who finished with three kills and only one error in seven total attacks for a .286 hitting percentage. Nethersole finished with five errors in 24 total attacks for a.125 hitting percentage.

As a team, the Hawks hit .096 for the match with 30 kills and 21 errors in 94 total attacks. Connecticut finished the match with .255 hitting percentage, concluding with 38 kills and 14 errors in 94 attacks. Leading all hitters for the match was the Huskies Rebecca Murray who finished with 10 kills.

Nethersole also led the Hawks defense, finishing one dig shy of double digits with nine, while also adding two blocks, a solo block and a block assist. Michelle Cordell finished second on the team with six digs, while contributing five kills and a block. Senior setter Lindsay Ford finished the match with 25 assists.

 

The Hawks will play a pair of games to close out the UConn Toyota Classic on Saturday.
