Storrs, Conn. – The next chapter of Hartford women's basketball has come to a close and the 2010-11 Hartford women's basketball team will certainly be remembered for one of the best in-season turnarounds in school history earning the programs sixth bid to the NCAA Championship and winning the programs fifth America East title. The Hawks (17-16) season ended in the opening round of the 2011 NCAA Championship as the Hawks fell to the top ranked Connecticut Huskies 75-39 on Sunday afternoon. 

The Hawks were led by sophomore Alex Hall who finished as the only Hartford play in double figures with 10 points. Hall finished the game shooting 4-of-9 overall and 2-of-5 from beyond the three point arc. She also added an assist and a steal in the second NCAA Championship game of her career.

Following Hall in the scoring column was Ruthanne Doherty with seven points and Nikkia Smith who chipped in six. Overall, the Hawks finished the game shooting 31.5 percent overall (17-of-54) while holding the Huskies under their season average, 49.2 percent (30-of-61).

The Huskies also won the battle of the boards with a 47-23 advantage through 40 minutes. Senior Mary Silvia closed out her career leading the team with six boards.

Silvia is one of three seniors who the Hawks will look to replace with an incoming class of five. Silvia closed out her senior season as the Hawks leading scorer, while finishing the year with 57 three pointers, second most in a single season in school history. Joining Silvia in the senior class was the Hawks floor marshal and point guard Jackie Smith and guard/forward Amanda Weaver.
