Hamden, Conn. – The University of Hartford volleyball team dropped the first of three matches at the 2011 Sacred Heart Invitational in five-sets (25-23, 15-25, 25-19, 23-25, 15-7) to Rutgers on Friday afternoon. The Hawks were led by four players with double figures kills, with junior Kami Nethersole leading all players with 15. The Hawks will face the host Pioneers (9:30 a.m.) and Brown on Sunday (2:30 p.m.). 
The Hawks finished the match hitting .217 as a team, led by sophomore Lindsay Anderson who finished with 10 kills and just two errors in 10 total attacks for a .364 hitting average. Senior Michelle Cordell also hit well, sporting a .243 hitting percentage. She finished with 12 kills and three errors in 37 total attacks. The Orlando, Fla. native also finished with a career-high 25 digs to lead the team defensively. Her 25 digs is the second time this season she has finished with 20 or more.
Rounding out the hitters was Sareeta Nethersole who finished with 12 kills, joining her sister in the double figures column. (Sareeta) Nethersole finished the match hitting .229 with just four errors in 35 total attacks. Sophomore Taylor McCreery finished just one kill shy of her first double digit kills outing, sporting a career-high nine. 
Freshman Jackie Tamburri finished the match with 46 assists, out of the teams 51 total. She was also among the defensive leaders with a career-high 22 digs, while adding four blocks. Also finishing with double figures in the digs column was both of the Nethersole sisters, Kami with 15 and Sareeta with 14.
